Quote from Shotglass :great and he doesnt even bother to post it in a langue most everybody understands

todd seems to be rather successfull with vrc ... dunno if its the fact that its the only proper rc sim atm or (more likely) that he seems to understand physics and not just coding

I had completely forgotten about that

Is it just me, or are ScaViEr the only people who have ever pulled off an independantly developed and published sim with any degree of success? All the independent sims I've followed have basically died, save maybe Racer, and even that, I don't think the development is really going anywhere. I think nKPro's issues really show how tough of a market this is, and how amazing it is that LFS is where it is.

The fact that Scawen has the confidence to have a kid and build a family is, at least I think, I true indicator of the health of LFS, and the developers devotion to it.

(BTW, Kunos is the nK developer)

RAC and FXR sound the best to me, I can't stand the sound of the FZ5/R and the XRR, they hurt my ears.

Oh, and the LX6 sounds amazing too

why the heck do we have to IM you? What's wrong with this perfectly good forum here? There are a significant number of people who don't have AIM, and they might be able to help you.

A little information goes a long way, btw

Since when is it limited edition? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I thought it was going to be a production wheel like the DFP or the MOMO

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :Hehe

Being AWD, I think the RB4 could benefit from a curve like this, which is not uncommon for a modern engine. (Indeed this is a real curve) And it shows just how silly the current turbocharger modelling in LFS is.

Check it out James

You really really like SRT-4s dont you Jeff

It's amazing to me how many people in club racing really don't take this to heart. Can anyone take a guess as to how many roll cages in BMWCCA don't use Chrome moly as their metal of choice? As far as I can tell, I'm the only cage builder in the series who uses the stuff. Mostly because other builders charge outrageous prices to install chrome moly because they don't want to take the time to preheat and anneal the welds. But a chrome moly cage can save 100lbs (45 kgs) or more.

We just finished building a new car for our shop. This car isn't a customer's car. It was built by us for us. This means that we sparred no expense in weight savings and chassis strength. The chassis is a BMW E36 which normally weighs in at ~3200 lbs (1450 kgs). After we were finished with it, it weighed in at just under 2200 lbs (997 kgs). It has an extensive cage that ties into all the suspension/subframe mounting points. It still has the heavy iron block straight six (for durability's sake) and giant 18 x 305 tires and wheels. There's still weight to be taken out of the car.

Here's the thing. Everyone says the magic number for this chassis is 2400 lbs (1088 kgs) and if you get under that you're a magician. I mean, big time builders are saying this. People who've spent a decade building these chassis are all saying that. Recently, Jon posted the weight on a BMWCCA message list and got a very lukewarm response. NO ONE BELIVES US! Well, it's going to be fun when we show up at an event and roll that thing up on the scales for all to see and then go out on the track and proceed to kick their ass with 40 less HP.

This E36 weighs the same as our old E30.

Would you mind posting a link to that thread/car? It sounds really cool, but digging around your website I haven't been able to find it.

I'm confused now, how can you have an FFB H-gate shifter and an FFB wheel if LFS only supports one FFB controller?

Or does LFS not recognize the joystick as a joystick, rather it recognizes it as a shifter?

Look at the number of buildings in South City compared to the number of buildings in the Autocross area, I think that's been the problem the whole time. I'm not really sure though.

it already is possible, I've been launched from the Autocross arena to the skid pad more that once, and everything works fine, you can drive around just like normal, the only thing it would need would be the road connecting them

Here in the U.S. at least, you need a billing address on everything you buy with a credit card, shipped or not. It's literally the address that your credit card bill is sent to, and they need it to confirm that you are in fact the cardholder.

I've entered my address wrong before, and the transaction gets refused, btw

I actually enjoyed it. It's far better than GTR1, although still nothing close to LFS... The cars still feel vague, and it doesn't run nearly as well as LFS on my system, but as far as I'm concerned, they're in different leagues.

LFS is more fun to drive, more connected, better for serious racing, just better all around. GTR is fun if you want to mess around on the Nurburgring offline in stupidly overpowered cars, I treat GTR like a mostly realistic Arcade game, more comprable to Forza than LFS.

I think I'll buy GTR, I know it and LFS can exist peacefully on my hard drive together

I think you'd get about 0FPS doing that, too, unless you had a mega-uber computer, then you might get 10...

I think this would require a huge rewrite of LFS, too. Polling two controllers, generating two sets of physics simultaneously, drawing two parts of the track at the same time, etc, etc, etc.

I don't see this happening any time soon :-\

Are you guys that are talking about fog lamps meaning front foglamps or rear foglamps? I can only assume rear foglamps, because I don't know why the front foglights would have any effect on a car behind you...

Quote from DethMag :LOL I actually pulled out my old IndyCar Racing 1 manual the other day for the section on car setups!

Oh and as tough as it can be sometimes, don't watch other people spin off/run wide/crash in either LFS or real-life racing, as it can be quite easy to follow them

Perfect example of that here http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=9835

Umm, Tristan's post was perfectly sensible, not flaming, and the vast majority of the stuff he posts isn't spam, it's actually helpful...
